<正> 说到英语中最长的词,人们自然会想到语言大师莎士比亚。莎翁在他的名篇《爱的徒劳》中,通过Costard之口说出了:“I marvelthy master hath not eaten thee for a word;for thou arenot so long by the head as honoriflcabilitudinitatibus,”句中那个由27个字母组成的词,在莎翁时代被认为是英语中最长的词,该词来自于中世纪的一句废话,意思是 honorableness,朱生豪翻译为“荣誉有嘉”。
