在传统语法中,and 被视为并列连词,即连接一个句子中并列的单词、短语、从句或分句。本文要探讨的是句首 and 在两个或两个以上的句子中所充当的语篇功能。请先看下列例子:(1)Just at the moment,the school bell began toring and the children all came out to play.(薄冰,1998:551)(2)Just at the moment,the school bell began toring.And the children all came out to play.
