【正】 I first visited Beijing in1987. Over the years I havewatched China transforminginto a vibrant consumer soci-ety. Beijing today reflects mod-ern China. The city will changerapidly during the next 5 years.However, the city has shownthat environment and maintain-ing links with the past are veryimportant. It is my hope thatoverseas people will visit thecity and see with their owneyes what has been achieved.
