AT the end of last year, the name of ZhongdianCounty, capital of Deqen TibetanAutonomous Prefecture in southwesternChina’s Yunnan Province, was changed toShangri-La County. After nearly nine months ofresearch, specialists and scholars now conclude thatZhongdian is indeed the Shangri-La of the 1933novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton.
