摘要

We conducted a nation-wide survey sponsored by our Ministry of Education between 20(0 and 2003 on the present situation and development strategies in college English teaching (CET). As one part of the research report, this paper focuses on the reasons why the National Syllabus for CET must be thoroughly revised and why Band 4 Test must be overhauled.
