摘要

IT is only in the past few decades that the stereotype image of pigtailed Chinese men and women with bound feet, forged by 19th-century Western missionaries, has finally been shattered. This is largely due to China's commitment to the information highway which is now as apparent in the small district of Nanhai in southernmost China as it is in the metropolises of Beijing and Shanghai.
