Barbier allylation and Friedel-Crafts alkylation of (un)substituted benzaldehydes, allylbromide and phenols can 4-[(un)substituted phenyl]but-1-ene compounds, which were applied to the synthesis of 4-(substituted phenyl)chromans through intramolecular cyclization reactions.
