Mud Logging Engineer- ing, 2012, 23（4）： 1-5 With the oil and gas exploration deepening, the exploration objects are transferring to the more complex geological condition blocks, coupled with PDC bits, more fine-tooth tricone bit, foam drill- ing, air drilling, the application of the above new techniques make the lithology identification more difficult, traditional methods which relied on the naked eyes and magnifier to identify lithology can not meet the requirements of LWD lithology identi- fication and real-time establishing geological lithol- ogy sections. In response to this situation
