摘要

Connotations and characteristics of urban waterfront area were elaborated,and its significance for urban development and construction of urban landscapes was proposed.Dujiangyan City and Yueyang City,as two representatives of middle-sized and small characteristic waterfront cities in China,were taken for example to explore the way of integrating urban landscapes,humanistic environment,ecology and tourism into the landscape planning of urban waterfront area, and also the way of fully developing historical and cultural characteristics of the local areas.It was to not only endow waterfront cities with diversified economic functions of urban waterfront areas,but also construct them into harmonious and livable cities with characteristic cultural background,taste, function and status.
