The research on basic values of various cultures is the core of Intercultural Communication. In the Information Age, the communication features the communication through the internet;and the exchange of information is in the indirect way. Browsing the homepages to get information is an indispensable activity for people. The design of homepages and the main content of news in the website can reflect the differences of values in different cultures. By collecting the homepages of 40 western (American, which is regarded as the representative of western culture) and Chinese universities, the article applies theories of Florence Kluckhohn, Hofstede and Michael Bond’s value research to the analyses of the value tendency reflected in the homepages. The differences of basic values revealing in the homepages are shown in the aspects of the different sense of nature, collectivism-individualism, large or small power distance. While in china, little was done in the field of value study, the article hopes to contribute partially to the value study in china and hopes the research on the internet can explore the intercultural communication study from a new perspective as well.
