摘要

This important volume consists of the final research reports of an international research team, led by Samuel Lieu of Macquarie University in Sydney, regarding a fascinating Chinese collection of medieval Christian and Manichaean remains. The material originates from the city of Quanzhou and neighboring sites on the south eastern coast of China. This was a most diverse international community residing in the medieval harbor-city of Quanzhou, then known as Zayton. Marco Polo is thought to have departed China from Zayton, introducing the city in his famous Travels as the foremost harbor city of its time.
