摘要

Semantic prosody is an important language phenomenon discovered and developed by corpus linguists.The discrimination of synonyms is the focus and difficulty in language teaching and learning.This paper explores the function and features of semantic prosody and the significance of research on semantic prosody to synonym discrimination.It suggests that in vocabulary teaching,teachers should emphasize the knowledge of semantic prosody in order to help learners acquire the word knowledge about what words and what semantic associations it constantly cooccurs.
