"Bugs Rule!" falls halfway between a college entomology text and a shallow coffee table picture book.Over 800 color photos of high quality all on-target to the science being discussed.It has the format of a textbook and systematically treats the orders,major families and important species in a teaching format.Indeed,the illustrations that accompany the text are the best coordinated of all entomology textbooks I have seen to date.Inserted boxes highlight human-related issues from the history of beekeeping to a map of the silk road.However,this book is less rigorous than most entomologyinstructors would want.Of course,this could be supplemented with handouts.
