Due to low activation characteristics, desirable high-temperature strength, good resistance to radiation damageand usable fabrication properties, vanadium (V) alloys are attractive candidate structural materials for fusionreactors[1]. Irradiation induced hardening/embrittlement at low temperature is a major problem for the materialsapplication in fusion reactor[2]. In this study, H/He ions with various energies were used to irradiate a purevanadium (V) and a V alloy (V-4Ti) to obtain a damage plateau from sample surface to the depth of 1.5 m, asshown in Fig. 1[3]. The details of irradiation parameters (energies, fluences) for H and He ions are shown in Table1. Nanoindentation was performed to investigate the hardening behavior of V-4Ti alloy and pure V under irradiation.
