摘要

Advances in stents design have led to a substantialincrease in the use of stents for a variety of digestivediseases. Initially developed as a non-surgical treatmentfor palliation of esophageal cancer, the stents nowhave an emerging role in the management of malignantand benign conditions as well as in all segments of thegastrointestinaltract. In this review, relevant literaturesearch and expert opinions have been used to evaluatethe key-role of stenting in gastrointestinal benign andmalignant diseases.
