Fengguo Temple is famous for its Great Buddha’s Hall(Daxiongbaodian) with almost 1,000-yearold wooden structure built in the Liao Dynasty. Based on inscriptions on 14 tablets, relevant books, journals and archaeological reports, the paper discussed the evolution of Fengguo Temple and the year of construction of its gate, and also specific location and basic form of the temple gate. The gate to Fengguo Temple possessed 5-jian width, adopted central-division section(fenxincao) and palace-hall beam structure(diantangshi). By exploring the gate platform, column and column base, materials, bucket arch(puzuo), beam, roof, wall, floor, window and door decorations, this paper analyzed and defined the principles and results of the restoration design.
