摘要

Vocabulary, as the information carrier, plays an indispensable role of language. Likely, vocabulary learning is a significant part in English learning, so vocabulary acquisition becomes one of the hottest SLA research fields. This study tests the vocabulary size of 61 first- year students in Jiangsu Maritime Institute by applying the adjusted Nation’s Vocabulary Level Test(VLT), laying basis for further researches and studies on vocabulary acquisition and development of those students.
