When slow highly charged ions approach and enter the sample,it deposits its energy into the target surface, which leads to atomic particle eject ion. Then some of them in excited states undergo radiative de-excitation resulting in optical emission[1].In order to probe into potential energy effect on optical emission, the measurement of optical emission in the collisions of slow(V0.38 VBohr)highly charged Xeq+(4q20)ions with high purity Ni(99.995%)surface was made.
