New mandates for reform of China's research infrastructure

摘要

At the recent biennial conference of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering,President Xi Jinping,Premier Li Keqiang,and Vice Premier Liu He gave three major speeches in tandem,laying out the government's plan for an extensive reform of China's research infrastructure,covering nearly all aspects of the scientific establishment,from strategic research goals and management systems for S&T development,to the evaluation and cultivation of innovative talents and reform of research institutions.The government's new mandates come at a time when the leadership is setting the agenda for China's march towards becoming a frontline country of innovation in the world by 2030.
