摘要

The female characters in Conrad's Heart of Darkness and Victory on one hand seem to be either too idealistic or rather uncivilized and insignificant.On the other hand,they have,indispensable functions:they prepare the precondition for the plot,they can reverse the gender stereotype,and they help the inner growth of male protagonists.Even so,the focus of Joseph Conrad is still a patriarchal society where women are motivated by men.
