The Group of Energy Materials(GEM)in IMP is engaged in the irradiation response of materials candidate to advanced nuclear energy systems like Gen IV and fusion reactors. The research is carried out by utilizing energetic ion beams supplied by ion accelerators available in IMP-CAS.In 2018 we built up two key facilities including the new chamber at the mediate-energy irradiation terminal(SFC-T1)of HIRFL,and the small-specimen test platform with wide temperature control. The completion of the two facilities enables our further research on the irradiation response of structural materials for nuclear energy. We extended our research on irradiation hardening/embrittlement of oxide-dispersion-strengthened(ODS)ferritic steels and reactor pressure vessel(RPV)steels, and the radiation effects of silicon carbide(SiC)fibers.A brief description is given as follows.
