Sudden cardiac arrest is now a global public health challenge that we must confront. Thirty years ago, almost no one can survive from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. In recent years, data showed that the rate of return of spontaneous circulation has increased. However, the mortality rate after cardiopulmonary resuscitation is still high and the subsequent neurological deficit still has no good treatment. Therefore, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, especially cerebral resuscitation,is particularly important. This article reviews the pathophysiology, treatment and neurological prognosis of cerebral resuscitation after cardiac arrest.
