Fe-Ni alloys exhibiting temperature-independent elastic modulus (Elinvar) and thermal expansion (Invar) properties have found wide and significant applications,such as liquefied natural gas tanks,micrometers,reed relays,hairsprings,etc.[1].Owing to the technical and theoretical importance of Invar and Elinvar effects,the underlying mechanisms of such effects have been vital issues in materials science and solid-state physics.Theoretical and experimental studies have been carried out to explain the Invar and Elinvar behaviors from magnetic [2,3] or structural [4] aspects,while no agreement has been reached due to the lack of convincing evidence.Accordingly,ascertaining influencing factors,structural or magnetic,may open a new avenue of understanding such behaviors.
