At the gathering marking the 40th anniversary of the Message to Compatriots in Taiwan held January 2, 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission and Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, delivered aspeech entitled Working Together to Realize Chinese NationalRejuvenation and Advance China's Peaceful Reunification Thisspeech came at a key moment in time;just before the celebra-tion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People'sRepublic of China later in the year, in a new era marked by theincredible transformation of the Chinese nation from regain-ing independence, to growing prosperous, and to becoming strong, and set against a backdrop of the kind of changes the world has not seen in a century.
