The epitranscriptome,comprising a diverse set of posttranscriptional chemical modifications of mRNA,is an important regulator of gene expression.In a recent study,Arango and colleagues identify acetylation of cytidine (ac4C) as a new mRNA modification that increases the stability and translation efficiency of transcripts.
