Based on the theory of integrated conservation of cultural heritage, through the study of the content of integrated conservation of cultural heritage, the external space of Wangji Temple, an ancient building in Xi’an, was renewed and designed.The corresponding design methods are used to solve the problems of material structure, visual landscape and social function in the space to improve the quality of space and maintain and enhance the value of cultural heritage of Wangji Temple, and provide a reference case for the improper use of external space of urban ancient buildings caused by insufficient awareness of the integrated conservation of cultural heritage.
