摘要:
Nanostructured metals and alloys are a versatile family of metallic materials that possess various excellent properties and offer the potential for a diverse range of industrial and biomedical applications.Research over more than two decades in this field has achieved tremendous progress in processing, characterization, and microstructural design, as well as fundamental understanding, and applications. In recent years, clear and encouraging advances have emerged regarding structural design, ranging from homogeneous nanoscale structures to heterogeneous multi-scale structures, which have led to unprecedented mechanical, physical, and biocompatible properties. At the same time breakthroughs have been achieved in fundamental studies of scaledependent thermal and mechanical stability, and strengthening mechanisms, as well as in the development of orientational and mechanical characterization at the nanoscale. In view of these exciting new research efforts and developments, this special issue has been designed to collect together a number of high-quality papers [1-10], including both reviews and cutting edge research, as a resource for assessing the most recent advances, and for defining future directions in the field of nanostructured metals and alloys.
