The tumor microenvironment refers to the internal environment in which tumor cells grow in the tumor tissue, and is composed of the tumor cells themselves, stromal cells, immune cells, microvessels, interstitial cells, interstitial fluid, and biomolecules infiltrating immune cells.Tumor-associated macrophages are macrophages that infiltrate the tumor tissue, and are the most frequent immune cells in the tumor microenvironment. The macrophages could secrete a variety of cytokines and can recognize, identify and clear the tumor cells. However,as the tumor develops,it plays a key role in the growth, invasion and metastasis of the tumor.Cancer cells will“hire”macrophages by giving them colony stimulating factors and CD47 protein to help them with tumor angiogenesis, metastasis, and drug resistance, stimulate tumor growth, and even phagocytose PD-1 antibodies to protect cancer cell.In response to the relationship between macrophages and tumors, more and more scientists have begun to think about how to design new antibody drugs based on their mechanism and turn them into another hero in the field of immunotherapy.
