Central Asia mainly refers to five countries to the west of Xinjiang,namely Kazakhstan,Uzbekistan,Turkmenistan,Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.The region occupies an important geographical location at the junction of Europe and Asia.Since time immemorial,it has been a critical node region in economic and cultural exchange corridors,including the Silk Road.In addition,as the region is rich in such strategic resources as oil and natural gas,it has always been a focus of concern and competition among great powers.Since the 21st century,economic and trade exchanges between China and Central Asia have become increasingly frequent,the foundations of cooperation have become increasingly solid and partnerships have been constantly pushed forward.Kazakhstan is the place where Chinese leaders first put forward the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013.
