A Comparative Study on Toxicity of Pyrethrin and Three Conventional Pesticides against Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki

摘要

[Objective]The paper was to understand the toxic effect of pyrethrins against Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki,as well as those of bifenthrin,imidacloprid and chlorpyrifos.[Method]In the laboratony,termites were kept in contact with filter papers treated by different concentrations of agents(0.7 mL),and the mortalities of termites were recorded periodically(24 h).[Result]The four agents had good toxicity to termites,and they could quickly act on termites within 24 h,and the mortality of termites increased with the increase of treatment concentration.The LC_(50)of the four agents against C.formosanus successively was chlorpyrifos(1.0810 mg/L)bifenthrin>pyrethrin>imidacloprid.The toxicity of chlorpyrifos on C.formosanus was about 3.58,5.91 and 16.09 times of those of bifenthrin,pyrethrin and imidacloprid,respectively;the toxicity of bifenthrin on C.formosanus was about 1.65 and 4.49 times of those of pyrethrin and imidacloprid,respectively;the toxicity of pyrethrin on C.formosanus was about 2.72 times of that of imidacloprid.[Conclusion]Pyrethrin has good effect on C.formosanus,with higher toxicity than imidacloprid,which has the potential to be developed as termicides.
