Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignant tumor with a high mortality rate, especially in Asian countries [1].Currently, lipiodol-based transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) has been extensively applied for patients with intermediate or advanced stages, which significantly prolongs survival [2].However, the clinical therapeutic outcome of TAE synergistic chemotherapeutics (TACE) is still undesirable.Currently, in the conventional fabrication process of chemotherapeutic synergistic embolic agents, chemotherapeutic drugs are mixed with lipiodol by mechanical blending, such as 3-way disposable stopcock.Frequent factors in conventional mechanical blending that disrupt the effectiveness of TACE include insufficient drug loading, rapid drug clearance, and toxicity.Hence, overcoming the instability of the chemotherapeutics in lipiodol is a feasible direction for enhancing the therapeutic effects in HCC interventional therapy.
