摘要

This thesis reviews the characteristics of Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio through relevant introduction to the author Pu Songling as well as the translator Herbert Allen Giles with the purpose of conducting a descriptive study from the perspective of Toury's norms theory. Among Toury's norms theory, preliminary norms, initial norms and operational norms exert large impacts on the selection of translation approaches and the readability of the target text.
