On June 26,2000,President Bill Clinton held a ceremony at the White House announcing the completion of the human genome sequencing.Finally,the leaders of the two competing groups,Dr.Francis Collins from the National Institute of Health,and Dr.J.Craig Venter from Celera Genomics,shook their hands.
