INTRODUCTION
The musculoskeletal system (MSK), including bone, cartilaginous tissues, skeletal muscle, tendon, ligament, intervertebral disc, and others, is the structural framework for the body and enables movement. Bones are held in position by ligaments. Skeletal muscles power the movement of bones. Muscles and bones are connected through tendons. These tissues together form the articulating joints. In addition to providing physical support, MSK tissues have endocrine functions and communicate with other tissues to affect organism homeostasis and overall physiological health.
