Yersinia pestis, the causative agent of bubonic and pneumonic plague, is considered to be one of the most dangerous and deadly pathogenic bacteria in the world[1]. Y. pestis? is classified as a category A pathogen by the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention because of its ease of aerosol-to-human transmission, high lethality, and potential for mass casualties as a biological warfare agent[2].
