As a modernist short story writer in the 20th Century, Katherine Mansfield is well known for her exquisite writing style. Her masterpiece, Miss Brill can be viewed as a perfect combination of her seriousness of art and high techniques of literary cre?ation, which is reflected in her poetic style of the language. This thesis illustrates the poetic style of Miss Brill from two aspects, the use of rhetorical devices, and the symbolic meanings of images, intending to reveal the aesthetic and realistic meaning of this fic?tion.
