摘要

The writer Cheng is also a friend of artist Liu Xiaodong. With the insight of a person long engaged in writing, Cheng is exploring the life and work of a painter. In this article he emphasizes that Liu Xiaodong's paintings should not always be constructed around realism, and he elaborates on realism as he understands it.
