Poetry, the use of language, has its powerful expressiveness.Poetry can be treated as enjoyable authentic materials in College English class because of the six merits: memorability,rhythmicality, recitability, diversity, recreation and interaction.To adapt poetry teaching to facilitate language learning has therefore become a reasonable goal. This paper lists five procedures and cites quite a few poems from College English textbooks as examples to adopt poetry as an effective language learning activity in College English Teaching (CET).
