Labrang Monastery(tib.Bla-brang), the “Golden Labyrinth” as it is known to many Westerners, is in fact one of the six most sacred shrines for the Dge-lugs-pa sect of the Tibetan school of Buddhism. To be still more precise, it is the most important religious center in the Qinghai-Gansu area that encompasses a large part of northwest China. An elaborate complex of golden-roofed Buddhist palaces and halls in traditional Tibetan style.the monastery, as I have discovered, is a “university” in itself.
