摘要

【正】The ultimate goal of language teaching is to develop students’ communicative competence. However,university English teachers often find it difficult to reach the aim in the English classroom, especially in the skills of listening and speaking.Their efforts in promoting students’ communicative competence are not fully felt by the students.Students also find it discouraging in the course of language learning.Communicative approach,which is an effective method to develop students’ communicative competence in the real life,stimulates the students learning interests and promotes students’ listening and speaking abilities.This paper aims to illustrate the aspects of communicative approach and its application to the foreign language teaching and learning.
