<正>John Fowles’s The French Lieutenant’s Woman is a book about freedom.This paper argues that the author has his narrative freedom as exhibited in the power of travelling through time, and in his assuming the roles of character,narrator and author at the same time.The paper concludes that the freedom in the novel is one that allows other freedom.
