摘要

In China＇s lunar calendar, the last month of the year is called the la yue, when in ancient times people would pray and sacrifice to gods and ancestors. Ba, eight, is a lucky number in China because it sounds like ＂fortune.＂ The Laba Festival, held on the eighth day of the last lunar month, signals the run-up to the Chinese New Year, and most Han Chi- nese celebrate the festival by eating laba congee.
