摘要:
Adenoma detection rate (ADR) is a key componentof colonoscopy quality assessment, with a direct linkbetween itself and future mortality from colorectalcancer. There are a number of potential factors, bothmodifiable and non-modifiable that can impact uponADR. As methods, understanding and technologiesadvance, so should our ability to improve ADRs, andthus, reduce colorectal cancer mortality. This article willreview new technologies and techniques that improveADR, both in terms of the endoscopes themselves andadjuncts to current systems. In particular it focuses oneffective techniques and behaviours, developments inimage enhancement, advancement in endoscope designand developments in accessories that may improveADR. It also highlights the key role that continuedmedical education plays in improving the quality ofcolonoscopy and thus ADR. The review aims to presenta balanced summary of the evidence currently availableand does not propose to serve as a guideline.
