Some, according to Saussure,is empty, and it has no beingness. So,the link between some and parasome is arbitrary.Representation is the essence of the linguistic sign, which is realized by means of arbitrariness. If the sign has its own nature of existence,so does the concept that it represents. The associative combination of signs(signifiers)1 and concepts(signifieds)will lead to the shifting and appending of one nature of existence to another. Thus,we have to choose the sign that is empty of inherent existence,a nonexistent being,a some.Saussure’s“phenomenon”,a kind of relationship and form,is a sound-image which is auditory in nature. In this regard, sound is obviously purer, emptier than writing and can better realize the sign’s representative nature. The emptiness of vocal signs and our mental ability to grasp this emptiness indicate the advanced development of human spirit. Each linguistic element itself is empty, and the value and signification lie in the difference from other linguistic elements and coexistence with other significations. There is no absolutely positive and totally definite meaning of one word or sign.It takes difference and negativity to generate meaning, meaning from some linguistic state.Language is ambiguous, but this ambiguity can achieve or realize accuracy in a synchronic differential or negative relationship. In this sense, the power of language takes root in negativity and difference.
