摘要

Lai Guolong’s book is a new attempt at understanding early Chinese religion by integrating archaeological, art historical, anthropological, philological, and historical methods. Lai has successfully demonstrated that careful rereading of artifacts and texts from excavations, as well as received texts, supported by balanced use of comparative materials from other cultures and anthropological and religious theories.
