Strengthened IPR Protection to Spur Innovation Intellectual property rights(IPR) protection is becoming increasingly important as intangible assets play a key role in the socio-economic development during China’ s rapid transition from an industrial to informationoriented society. According to a recent survey released by the National Intellectual Property Administration, China scored 76.88 in the public’s satisfaction of the country’s IPR protection efforts in 2018. The revised trademark law adopted at the 10th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress increased the cap on the amount of compensation for malicious infringement on the exclusive right to trademarks from RMB 3 million to RMB 5 million.
