In February 2018,a 2-year-old American shorthair was treated conservatively for cystitis caused by crystalluria.However,as long as drug withdrawal was proceeding,the condition would be repeated,and the condition worsened since August.In order to diagnose and treat the sick cat,clinical examination,laboratory examination,X-ray,B-type ultrasound and other methods were used for diagnosis,and treatment was conducted according to the diagnosis results.The results showed that the cat was caused by ammoniomagnesium phosphate crystals blocking urethra,complicated with postrenal azotaemia and hyperkalemia.The relapse continued after conservative treatment,and the cat finally recovered by modifying urethra surgically.The results showed that the deficiency of drinking water,the change of urine pH,and high dietary magnesium and fiber content could promote the occurrence of the disease.For the problem of urethral obstruction that could not be solved by conservative treatment,operation was done to modify urethral stricture.
