摘要

China and the Philippines willreach 45 years of diplomaticrelations in June 2020. Like many otherrelationships, the relationship betweenthe Philippines and China has had upsand downs. However, the two countriesremain friends as the permanentneighbors they have been for manycenturies.Normalization PeriodSince 1975, the Philippines hasbeen pursuing a policy of maintainingfriendly ties with China. The Philippinegovernment recognized the importanceof cooperating with China to ensurenational survival during the Cold Warwhile at the same time working withthe United States as a security ally.
