摘要

Lin Daiyu, one of the heroines in the classic fantastic novel A Dream of Red Mansions, is always deemed weak, delicate and sentimental by many common Chinese readers because of the hopeless love with her cousin Jia Baiyu, but Cao Xueqin, the author, arranged for her one pet and one servant girl, both of whose names may have profound significance for the sake of the composition concerning the plot of this great literary work.
