摘要

Theoretical linguistics, with Noam Chomsky being the representative and the trendsetter, have exerted profound influence on language studying, both on the first and the second language acquisition realm. However, its usage on the concrete language application is far more less than that of the language formation. In the applied linguistic category, on the one hand, focus should be on the linguistics knowledge itself; on the other hand, priority should be given to the complimentary branch—sociolinguistics.
